Quarter Overview
This quarter we analyzed Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech and wrote an essay about the rhetorical and persuasive devices that Martin Luther King used. We made Public Service Announcement memes, and I made minet on the positive effects of gaming. We also analyzed four articles and wrote an essay on whether Berkeley should adopt a national “Put Down Your Screen Week.” I took the con position because our school has a one to one laptop program. We wrote a blog on a topic of our choice, and I wrote my blog on why r professional gaming should be considered a sport. We then engaged in a couple debates, informal and formal. I found the debates really fun because debating is really fun in my opinion.
II. Looking forward
Next year, I am certainly not excited to read more Shakespeare because I find his plays hard to understand and boring. I would like to read more articles rather than a novel because I find articles more interesting and engaging. I would like to work on my word choice, detail, evidence and run on sentences in my writing. I want to also work on my reading comprehension because sometimes I have difficulty understanding what I read.
