How would you describe life’s journey?
Life’s journey can be seen in many different ways. Robert Frost believes that a person can make a lot of choices in life that affect the way he or she lives; whereas Shakespeare is not as optimistic and thinks that life is just a meaningless play. I believe that there is a huge meaning to life and that in the end I will go to another world or place depending on the choices I have made in my life.
Both Shakespeare’s “Seven Ages of Man” and Frost’s “The Road Not Taken” explore differing opinions on life. Shakespeare's “Seven Ages of Man” suggests that life is just an act that everyone plays, entering when born, leaving when dead. The act has seven roles that mean nothing and the only thing it leads to is death with no meaning. Frost’s tells us that people can make choices in life that will affect their life and will affect your life in either a good way or a bad way.
The speaker for “The Sower” by Hugo admires a man in the rags because he is optimistically working hard and is very poor. He also realizes that the man in rags is hopeful for success in the future. The speaker from “To Be of Use” by Marge Piercy is very similar to the Hugo’s speaker because they like people who like to work hard. The speaker from “To Be of Use” states, “The people I love the best jump into work head first” indicating the belief that being e confident and working hard leads to a productive, happy life. The speaker from “The Sower” describes the farmer’s “Boundless faith in future days” suggesting working hard and being optimistic is part of a successful life journey.
I like people who are productive and like working really hard for things they would like to have and I am just like that when it comes to sports such as soccer because I try my absolute best all the time as well as many other people on my team.
I agree with Robert Frost and Marge Piercy because he thinks that we can make choices in life that can affect our lives and how we live it. Shakespeare’ wrote that life is meaningless, but I disagree because I can change my life through the choices I make. Piercy and Hugo’s poems convey the message that hard work will make life meaningful because it will allow us to live our lives in a different way and allow us to make choices that will then lead to making our lives meaningful. I like people who are productive and like working really hard for things they would like to have and I am just like that when it comes to sports such as soccer because I try my absolute best all the time as well as many other people on my team.
