Energy
Unit Overview: For students to gain understanding of all the different forms of energy. The students will research different forms of energy and present them to the class to gain knowledge on all types of energy. The students will use mathematical representations to represent certain energy transfers as well as create energy flow diagrams to show the change in energy.
Personal Achievement: I learned a lot more about different types of energies in this unit, this was quite a big achievement because before this I did not know much about different types of energies.
Enduring Understanding:
Thermal Energy- Energy that is from heat which causes particles in an object to move.
Nuclear Energy- Energy kept in the nucleus of an atom. It comes from large atoms splitting or smaller atoms combining.
Potential Energy- The energy that an object has because of its position.
Kinetic Energy- Energy that is caused from motion of objects.
Electrical Energy- Energy which is caused by the movement of electrons and other charged particles.
Sound Energy- Energy that is caused by vibrations of matter.
Gravitational Energy- Energy caused because of gravity.
Mechanical energy- Energy that has because the object gains motion or has energy because of the object's position.
Electrochemical- It is the energy which is stored and transferred by fuel cells and photoelectrochemical. These types of energies are stored in batteries or supercapacitor.
Electromagnetic- Energy that flows in electric or magnetic waves that can travel through space.
Chemical Energy- Energy kept in bonds of chemical compounds.
Reflection on Progress Towards the Standards:
Strengths: Communicates scientific information. This was one of my strengths because I able to understand how all the energies worked.
Areas for Improvement: Develops reading literacy in science. I need to improve in this area because I had difficulty understanding what I read.
Evidence of Work:
